# Token Utility

The $LIGHT token is designed with multiple use cases to ensure it is deeply integrated into the Outlight ecosystem:

## **Token-Gated Access**

Holding a certain amount of $LIGHT unlocks exclusive features and sections of the platform. This ensures that committed community members get the most value, and it gives the token an intrinsic usage – essentially an “entry ticket” to Outlight’s most powerful tools.

## **Trading Terminal Commissions**

Whenever users execute trades through the Outlight Terminal (or the integrated bot), a small commission of \~1-2% is applied. These fees are **collected in $LIGHT** (or used to market-buy $LIGHT in real-time) and then funneled back into the ecosystem. Specifically, the collected $LIGHT is burned or added to liquidity, and a portion is reserved for rewards. This mechanism effectively ties platform trading volume to token demand – high trading activity will continuously create buy pressure for $LIGHT and reduce circulating supply.

## **Query & Service Fees**

Certain premium services, such as making heavy use of data queries, incur fees payable in $LIGHT. Think of this like spending tokens for API calls or special analysis reports. This model is similar to how cloud platforms charge for extra usage, but here it’s all within the Outlight token economy. It provides power users the ability to get more from the system while contributing to token utility.

## **Buyback Strategy**

As mentioned, a significant portion of revenue generated (from trading fees, data fees, etc.) is allocated to regularly **buy back $LIGHT tokens from the open market**. This is a strategic move to support token value. By reducing supply (via token burns or treasury holdings) using actual platform revenue, we ensure that as Outlight’s adoption grows, $LIGHT holders directly benefit from that growth. The buyback not only creates upward price pressure but also instills investor confidence that the platform is reinvesting in its own token.

## **Governance Participation**

Outlight is a community-driven platform, and $LIGHT token holders are empowered to have a say in its future. By staking $LIGHT, users receive **voting rights** on key decisions and proposals. This could range from deciding new feature priorities, to adjusting fee rates, or how to allocate community funds. Our governance model ensures that those who have a stake in the ecosystem can influence it, aligning with decentralized principles.

## **Staking Rewards**

Long-term believers in Outlight can **stake** (lock up) their $LIGHT tokens to support the network and, in return, earn rewards. Staking rewards might come from a dedicated pool (funded by some of the buyback tokens or a portion of fees). This encourages holding and decreases circulating supply, as users are incentivized to lock tokens rather than trade them.

All these utilities drive demand for $LIGHT and weave it into every aspect of the Outlight ecosystem.
